Great Futures Start Here
The Boys and Girls Clubs of St. John’s is a youth-serving, non-profit, charitable organization. The Club, established in 1946, has a mandate to provide versatile programs that meet the needs of today’s youth. We aid in the social, emotional, educational, and physical development of children and youth. Our organization is proud of its reputation in the community as a leader in innovative responses to the needs of our young members and their families.
We have two locations in St. John’s
Values Base and Youth Centered
Our 5 fundamental core values define the very nature of the Boys and Girls Club services, our aspirations for youth and the manner in which we serve young people, their families and communities. The growth and development of each and every young person that comes to a Boys and Girls Club is our primary concern.
Relevant Programs and Services
Our communities dictate our roles. Services and support to young people and their families are based upon identified community needs and the goal of linking young people with the promise of a future.
Accessible to All Youth
Boys and Girls Clubs are open to everyone. Membership fees are extremely low and no child is ever turned away based upon inability to pay. Based on this “open-door policy,” clubs effectively serve youth from backgrounds and neighborhoods where other organizations and services are scarce or unaffordable.
Trained Volunteers and Staff
The Boys and Girls Club has full and part time youth development professionals, who provide guidance, supervision, and leadership while serving as positive role models and mentors for young people. In the 2014-15 after school program there were 120 volunteers who contributed 3500 volunteer hours.
Positive Impact
The Boys and Girls Club of St. John’s uses a formula that has proven effective in positively impacting the lives of children at risk by building self-esteem and developing values and skills during critical periods of childhood growth.
